Unmetered bandwidth why there's a limit?

We sometimes offer unmetered bandwidth on our VPS plans, however when you go to VPSManager it shows something like 5TB bandwidth allocation, don't be alarmed as SolusVM requires us to put a bandwidth value otherwise VPS won't be built and definitely you can go pass the limit if you need to without worrying of getting extra bill for bandwidth overage or getting your VPS suspended.

However please be aware that VPS is a shared resources meaning you cannot use/push the whole bandwidth 24x7 on your own and saturate the whole port as a courtesy to our users on the same machine, our unmetered data transfer just means you will not be billed for overages and is not meant to be abused, if you need dedicated bandwidth contact us for a dedicated server quote.

There is a generous 10TB data cap for all Softlayer unmetered offerings to give others a chance to use bandwidth, however occasionally you may need to go beyond the limit please log a ticket so we can check if it is possible so we can authorise you. We will take into consideration the available bandwidth especially if we are nearing bandwidth reset date (Softlayer reset bandwidth count every 24th of month & our counter resets every first day of  the month).
